The evolution of social media and technology has exponentially increased the exposure and effects of cyberbullying. This evolution is something that previous generations cannot understand. The Say It 2 My Face campaign gets it. We have grown up in the same harsh environment as cyberbullying victims, struggling as the first generation to define ourselves both offline and online. We have witnessed and experienced first hand the detrimental effects that result from misuse of the Internet. Through photography, pledge bracelets, and videos, Say It 2 My Face encourages victims to express their stance against cyberbullying. Furthermore, the campaign urges cyberbullying victims to channel online harassment into fuel for their passion as a way to overcome cyberbullying.
Say It 2 My Face is a campaign against cyber bullying and a protest against the use of anonymity on the Internet for detrimental purposes. The campaign was originated by Taylor Audette, an undergraduate student at The University of Southern California. The campaign encourages everyone to think about what they type, what they post, and what they spread online. If you would not ‘say it to my face,’ then you shouldn’t post it online. Using purple, the color of “good judgment,” attention is drawn to the power of our hands. Cyberbullying is literally at our fingertips. It is hands on the keyboard that cause the detrimental, and often devastating effects of cyberbullying. Conversely, Say It 2 My Face advocates the use of hands as a tool for support that can convey our campaigns anti-cyberbullying message.

Cates & daughter wearing their purple pledge, acountability, & awareness bracelets
Cates states,
"Technology is changing so rapidly and its so different from when I was a kid or what it was just even just a few years ago. Kids are so sensitive and fragile and impressionable and to think that someone would say some something derogatory on the Internet, where its there forever. Its not like the old days when someone would vandalize your locker and you could go and clean it off. This is out there forever."
"It can affect people getting jobs. If the cyberbully is underage, the parents could actually be held accountable legally. Its a big deal."
Challen Cates, who currently plays the role of "Mrs. Knight," mother to "Kendall" on Nickelodeon's Big Time Rush , has recently joined our fight against cyber bullying. Cates has become a spokewoman for SayIt2MyFace speaking out to a number of media outlets, including: CY Interview, Working Author, and Star Struck Media Promo, advocating others to take the pledge against cyber bullying.
